[edit] Sonic Advance 3, Sonic Adventure 2

In reference to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sonic_Adventure_2&diff=36820690&oldid=36632566

When you consider Sonic Advance 3 was released 3 years after Sonic Adventure 2, it doesn't make much sense to claim that the song in Sonic Adventure 2 is a remix of a song in Sonic Advance 3 - it would be the other way around. And even then, the song in Sonic Advance 3 is less of a remix and more of an "adaptation" - it's still the same song, it's just been scaled down to utilize the GBA sound hardware, that's all. [edit] Plot descriptions

Personally, I thought mine were better. Shorter, to the point, and written better. :P Gave you a taste of the plot while still stimulating curiosity.BlazeHedgehog 02:46, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey, be bold and edit them. I think they're too long, especially in proportion to the rest of the article. Paul Haymon 03:59, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Branching storyline

Just about everything on the Shadow the Hedgehog page has sources for it's features listed, but there's no source for where the branching storyline trivia came from, thus it's unknown if that's true or it's simple lies. Proof plz? --Ragey 13:05, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Unfortunately, many Sonic news sites have had mishaps with news archives. TSSZ is defunct and SonicHQ's news archives only go back to 2002 (which is odd, they used to go back all the way to 1998). I am the one who wrote the bit about the branching storyline; as I recall, a Dreamcast Magazine - I believe one from the UK - got a chance to head up to Sega to look at an in-progress version of Sonic Adventure 2. They reported on several things, including concept art for Sonic Shuffle (which was mistakenly said to be for SA2). Of the concept art they described, I remember:
  • "Dark Sonic" (Shadow), said some concept art featured him missing an eye.
  • "Nails the Bat" (Rouge), a female spy character, thought to be the Anti-Tails (as her name rhymed). This was the first mention of a Bat character, ever.
  • An Angelic Creature, described as resembling the little girl from the end of the first Silent Hill (could be Maria)
  • Angel (Hero) and Devil (Dark) Chao
  • A Many-eyed Creature (Unknown Origin; perhaps early Biolizard concept art, or Void)
  • A Flying, Troll-Like Creature (some believe this to be an early incarnation of Lumina Flowlight)
There was a lot of speculation at the time as to wether or not these guys were legit, but considering the final released copy contained the Angel/Devil Chao, it was more or less confirmed to be true, even moreso after Shadow the Hedgehog implemented the branching storyline pathways. They were the ones who described the submarine scene; they also mentioned that Chao would be closer related to unlocking secrets.
Unfortunately, all of this news was back in 2000. Unless there's scans of all this sitting somewhere, most of the news sites that reported these then-rumors are gone. Which means: You're going to have to take my word for it. Surely there are more people out there who remember these things to back my story up, as I know I'm not alone.
BlazeHedgehog 14:34, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, I'm glad to at least know it came from a magazine, and not some obscure "fact" that was passed along a forum. --Ragey 14:44, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

I think I can help you there. If you know these defunct websites' addresses, type it in the search box at http://web.archive.org - The Wayback Machine. You might find old versions of websites, and therefore, closed websites as well. But images often aren't there, so I hope these sites didn't require Flash or some other multimedia plug-in! Digifiend

[edit] Sonic Adventure 2: Battle

Shouldn't this game get it's own article? Sonic Adventure DX does. -- ChessManXI 03:30, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Either that or Sonic Adventure DX's article should be combined into the main Sonic Adventure entry, which I think would fit the situation better. -- BlazeHedgehog 11:39, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Why does this article exist? In my opinion, remove all the important info, put it into the Battle section of the Sonic Adventure 2 article, and delete the other one. Paul Haymon 19:15, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Soundtrack

Is there any information on the soundtrack to this game? The music is really good, and I was hoping I would get some info on who are the artists, if there is an official soundtrack for purchase and stuff like that.--Martin925 03:11, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Actually, there is, and I own it. I'm not sure about any info on it but I'll look into it later. =) Alakazam9891 14:25, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Characters

On the subject that originally, only Sonic, Knuckles, Dr. Eggman were the only cast of playable characters, and that Tails, Rouge, and Shadow were added later, comes Official US. Dreamcast Magazine, December 2000:

"Although only a few characters have been revealed so far (Sonic, Knuckles, and Dr. Robotnik), sources tell us that five new characters, pulled from former Sonic games on Genesis, Game Gear, and arcade platforms, will also join the party-introducing new styles of game play in the process."

While generally not 100% true, the whole point if videogames is that it's very possible to change stuff drastically before it hits retail. In the same month, the Official UK Dreamcast Magazine had words with Yuji Naka:

"When asked if Tails was going to be in Sonic Adventure 2, Naka replied that no he wasn't. When asked if Tails the Fox would make a comeback he said he couldn't say anymore which suggests that Tails may come back seeing as most developers say things like, 'Sorry but we have finally scrapped this.' I hope this will end months of specualation of Tails being in SA2."

Hope this clears stuff up. BlazeHedgehog 04:26, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] This isn't GameFAQs

Both 151.203.62.185 (talk · contribs) and 203.184.53.184 (talk · contribs) have added material that explains how to win the game; something you'd only find at a strategy game site like GameFAQs. Some of the additions are good, but most are of the strategy guide type. I've checked 151.203.62.185 but I'll need some help to get this stuff out of the article. There were also these types of comments before the two anons edited the article. Also, exclaimation points (!) are littered throughout the article. Wikipedia articles generally do not contain exclaimation points. -- RattleMan 03:48, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

I was just thinking about this before I went to bed last night. Almost wiped out all the "Strategy guide"-esque text right there, but figured it'd be better to sleep on it. I remember I got yelled at for putting mission objectives for the stages in Sonic Heroes, so I reverted it to just a list of stages. Directions to acquire items like the bounce bracelet and stuff probably don't belong. BlazeHedgehog 09:01, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup

I have seriously gutted the Stage List section, removed the Special Items section, made some minor edits to the story section (hanging questions at the end of a plot synopsis is fine if you're trying to promote the game, but doesn't fit with an article meant to be purely informative), and removed all cleanup flags. - Kalarchis 02:06, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Test Zone?

What Test Zone? I can't seem to find it on the Internet. Is it in the GameCube version? I have an Action Replay, and I'd like to know what the codes are. Darklinkskywalker 03:23, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Test Zone is a location in the game where designers tested the game before making actual levels. It is a big, featureless room, with objects to test player interaction with. Collision detection, game mechanics like grinding, etc. To access the Test Zone in the Gamecube version, enter this Action Replay Code:
BPMU-HT2R-X7BA2
Q95B-WV0J-10V85
H2E9-MAE2-U5PEE
After you enter that code, access level select, and select a level - such as, say, City Escape. The minute you select the level from the map screen, hold Up on the D-Pad. Once the titlecard comes up ("City Escape - Mission: Escape Military Pursuit!" for example), you can stop holding up. It should load the test level after that! Any character you select on the map screen (for example, let's say you select Pumpkin Hill, with Knuckles) will warp to this level as long as you hold up immediately after you select it on the map. BlazeHedgehog 02:36, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm new to this accesing stuff. Can somebody tell me what Action Replay is and how I can get it?

This is Wikipedia. If you want to know what something is, simply search for it. In this case, enter Action Replay in the search box to your left. BlazeHedgehog 18:50, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Second person usage

Can someone look over and help me edit the article to change the second person use (wherever it says "you") to third person (example: "the player", "he or she")? I've fixed some of this, but I would appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Paul Haymon 10:23, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] reused remix copies

I don't know if it's completely correct but "Vengence" from Radical Highway, which was reused in 2P-mode of Shadow the Hedgehog, sounds kinda likea remix of the music from the bosses Chaos 0, 2, and 4 from Sonic Adventure. Is this right? The last chime sound at the end of the bosses sounds like the second chime sound at the beginning of Vengence, and the beat sound the same only warped as a different style and tone. [edit] Story section needs complete redo

Alot of the story section looks like its done by a two year old. I think the story section needs to be completely redone. I have compiled a list of the worst examples from the article because I find it funny.

  • ...while holdining on to the outside of the Eclipse Cannon as it starts to screw up.
  • Shadow shows Eggman the shutdown Eclipse Cannon...
  • They finally showed their plan to the world when they also destroyed half the moon.
  • He finally defeated Sonic the Hedgehog! Or did he?
  • ...video from before Gerald's death while he's in prison of his plan to destroy the Earth...
  • Shadow hears Maria's voice and pulls upward a little further.

-RossyMiles 11:30, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

I was waiting for someone to notice. Go ahead and start editing it if you will. I'll help. Paul Haymon 11:43, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
ok you people do that but can someone please realise that in SA2 it was Hyper Shadow who was fighting with Super Sonic, hence why after the fight Shadow uses the last of his choas control to teleport to the planet, now have a listen to this, Sonic when he was fighting Dark Oak in Season three of Sonic X (Japanese Season 2) fell at the same altitude height (While in his SUPER form) and then he ended up falling through Earth's atmosphere and crashing onto the actual planet's surface, that is why eggman finds him in that state, if Shadow was Super when he fell to Earth then why was he able to use chaos control to get to the planet and be found by Dr. Robotnick? does it not make perfect sence that in Sonic Heroes, Shadow is hidden in the base? And one more thing, if that Shadow was an android then how the (excuse the profanity here please) fuck did he remember about Sonic's Super Form? Please Someone see the sence.... SA2 - Hyper Shadow, SH - Normal Shadow, Sonic X - Super Shadow.... now I hope I have spread some light on what some of you "fans" are thinking.

And before you ask where I got this kind of information from I asked Sega myself because I was confused when you fans started to call his SA2 form "Super Shadow" Please can someone get back to me on this? If I don't return to wikipedia: Unkown337@hotmail.com - that is my e-mail address, proper thoughts only, no small vocabulary flames, have a nice and abuse free day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.17.212.179 (talkcontribs)

Sega have stated that Sonic X is not part of the "official" Sonic continuation. The episodes made were based on the games but they were never meant to be a future to the official game storyline. Sonic X may be useful to understand the videogame storyline but the two universes are not identical and this often causes confusion. For example, in the videogames Sonic never actually breaks the sound barrier. Also I dont think Super/Hyper Shadow's name was ever confirmed and if it was, i think it would be Super Shadow. I think Hyper Shadow was a name used only in the Archie Comics because the only time i saw the Hyper prefix in the game universe was in Sonic 3 & Knuckles with Hyper Knuckles and Hyper Sonic. Shadow cant become hyper because the Super Emeralds never appear in Sonic Adventure 2 (or any game other than S3&K.) ROSSYMILES TALK 07:27, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Is it true that both Super Sonic and Super Shadow...

are playable in 2P mode? -Stanleyscup07 02:15, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

I've wondered this myself! I heard that if you get all the emblems (complete every mission of every level with every character, and every boss attack mode, and every chao race and karate, and every kart race, and get an A rank on every mission of every level to get the extra emblem for every charecter to get all 180) then you can play as Super Sonic and Super Shadow in two player mode. SOMEONE WHO HAS ALL THE EMBLEMS FOR SA2 OR SA2B, PLEASE REPLY! CAN YOU USE SUPE SON AND SUPE SHAD IN 2P MODE? Thanx.

According to official strategy books, it seems you can't use Super Sonic or Super Shadow in 2 player mode. Trust me. I haven't gotten all the emblems but I know this for a fact.

I don't know why I'm even deigning to reply to this obvious foruming, except that I do have all 180 emblems (fired up my game a few hours ago for the first time in quite a while, they're still there) and can confirm that there is no Super Sonic / Super Shadow unlock for the 2P mode. [edit] Eggman tricks Tails

If any of you were confused about how Eggman got Tails to tell him that Sonic was handing over a fake emerald, it's actually quite simple. If you recall, Eggman was getting energy readings from two chaos emeralds in addition to the six in the cannon. That would make eight. The only logical explanation would have to be a fake emerald, as Eggman thought. Now, Tails designed the fake emerald to be so real that not even a machine could tell the difference between the two; a machine such as one that detects chaos emeralds like that aboard the ARK. Once Sonic reached Eggman with the fake emerald in his possession to be handed over, Eggman didn't know if it was real or not, so he assumed it was fake, asking if Tails thought he could trick him with it, knowing that Tails would respond and give it away. Now THAT'S true genius. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.218.92.64 (talk) 01:24, 9 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Sigh...

This article needs a lot of work. Contrast it with the Sonic Adventure article. That's what this article needs to look like. Paul Haymon 22:12, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

As per my own suggestions, I just removed a bunch of unnecessary text. Paul Haymon 22:19, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
There needs to be more detail about the actual gameplay. I added some information, but there is more work to be done. Paul Haymon 03:58, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NIDS

The article incorrectly states that NIDS is a fictional representation of AIDS. NIDS is a real condition unrelated to AIDS. http://nids.net/nidsfactsheet.pdf Sock-fox 11:47, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Is this a suitable redirect?

I just made the redirect page SA2:B. I use it as an abbreviation for Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and I've heard it be used by a few others as well. Is it appropriate to have a redirect for a section of an article like Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is right now? --LuigiManiac 13:55, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, but it's best to put it on SA2B as well because most people I've seen don't use a colon when referring to it. -- RattleMan 16:43, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Done. --LuigiManiac 04:13, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] suggestion

shouldnt we add a glitch section to the SA2:B part of this article concerning the glitches, like flying out of chao garden and returning to see all your chao drowning in he ground? or the one with the hero garden screwing up rouges eyes?--Fred Fredburger: Lord of Horror 19:52, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

No, bad idea. You can link to a Glitches FAQ, though. -- RattleMan 21:06, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Final/Last

Shoudn't there be a secti0n for Last/Final story mode or at least add a sub section to the plot, its pretty importantBaconBoy914 (talk) 18:06, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
