Sonya Smith (born Sonya Eleonora Smith Jacquet on April 23, 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American actress best known for her roles in telenovelas. She is the daughter of Venezuelan actress Ileana Jacquet and her American husband.

While born in the United States, Smith grew up in Venezuela and identified herself with Venezuelan culture. Her breakthrough came in the early 1990s when she played Estrella Montenegro, the main character in Cara Sucia. Smith remains a popular actress in Venezuela. In 2006, she returned to telenovelas with Olvidarte Jamás, which was shot in Miami. She resides in Miami, Florida with her fiance, Destino de Mujer co-star Jorge Reyes.

During 2005, Smith made her Hollywood debut, playing "Angela LaSalle" in Cyxork 7, where she acted alongside Ray Wise. In 2007 she participated in another Hollywood film, Ladrón que roba a Ladrón, where she shared credits with actors, Fernando Colunga, Gabriel Soto, Miguel Varoni, and Saul Lizaso among others.

In 2007 she acts in Telemundo's Pecados Ajenos, where she will play her first antagonist role, playing the hysterical, "Elena Torres".
