Sonu Kakkar is an Indian singer, born as Niti kakkar, in Rishikesh (UP now Utrakhand, India). At the age of five she started singing in jagrans (Hindu devotional gatherings). After some years her family shifted to new delhi. Then famous bollywood music director 'sandeep' chowta noticed her voice in a contest and the result is " babuji zara dheere chalo"'
The most popular dance song of recent times since then she is regular in bollywood playback singing.
Nusrat fateh ali khan is her inspiration. It was the time time when most of the aspiring female singers were following lata mangeshkar and asha bhosle kind of singing style but she followed the other way of full throated voice. Sandeep chowta count sonu as one of his most favourite singers. She has won MTV IMMIES AWARD for her song babuji. At the very young age she has performed with world's great musicians like Virgil donati, Frank gambale, Bunny brunel and Mitch forman. She has also worked with the great composer Ar rahman. Her recent single "MALLIKA I HATE YOU" is another superhit as well.
