Sonoma Mountain High School is one of three alternative schools in Petaluma, California. It is located on the Casa Grande High School campus. There are on average 32 pupils enrolled at Sonoma Mountain High School at any given time. About 6 pupils graduate every year.
The school is comprised of six rooms, not including hallways. These rooms are: the principals office, two bathrooms (one male and one female, shared by both faculty and students), and two classrooms. Including the main entrance, there are three exits from the building. One leads to a side garden in which native plants are grown; said plants are often used in classes to further environmental education, and students may be seen outside in all weathers, tending to plants or engaging in various other garden-related activities. Some plants that are grown in this garden include: California Buckwheat, and California Poppies, among others. The other leads to the back of the school, known as the backyard or the nitrous yard.
