Soni (language)

Indian (Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat): Hindu (Khatri, Bania, Vania) and Sikh name meaning ‘goldsmith’ in the languages of the region, derived from son- ‘gold’, from Sanskrit svaṛna. Banias and also the Panjabi Khatris have clans called Soni.
