Songs About My Cats is a 2001 glitchcore album by Venetian Snares. It is also his first solo album on the Planet Mu label (Making Orange Things, released barely one month prior to Songs About My Cats on Planet Mu, was a collaboration with Speedranch).
Embedded within the last track, "Look", are several pictures of Aaron's cats. The images can be viewed directly with a spectrum analyzer; a capture of the embedded images is viewable online here.
Venetian Snares' songs typically use a 7/4 time signature, however none of the tracks on this album do. The sixth track on the CD release, "Breakfast Time for Baboons", is in 10/4 along with "Pouncelciot". "Nepetalactone" is in 9/4 (4/4 + 5/4) and Fluff Master is in 11/4.
The album is one of his first known forays into ambient techno, adopting a style similar to early Aphex Twin, combining soundscapes and his classical breakcore style. Both "For Bertha Rand" and "Lionness" are actually ambient tracks which follow the more common style of ambient music.
