Sonatala (Bengali: সোনাতলা) is an Upazila of Bogra District in the Division of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. An administrative thana was founded at Sonatala in 1981 and upgraded as Upazila in 1984.

As of 1991 Bangladesh census[1], Sonatala has a population of 146028. Males constitute are 50.63% of the population, and females 49.37%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 69297. Sonatala has an average literacy rate of 26.2% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. [2]
