Björn J:son Lindh

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Björn J:son Lindh (born 25 October 1944 in Arvika, Sweden) is a Swedish flutist and composer. Lindh has scored music for films including Mannen på taket, directed by Bo Widerberg and Jägarna, directed by Kjell Sundvall. He was awarded the Cornelis Vreeswijk scholarship in 1993.

He has played on many of Ralph Lundsten's albums, especially in the 70s and 80s, and he has played with renowned guitarist Janne Schaffer as well as classical pianist Staffan Scheja. The works he recorded with Scheja went under the name "Spirits of Europa". In 1984 he played the suggestive flute solo on Murray Head's U.K. No 1. single "One Night in Bangkok", taken from the Tim Rice/Benny Andersson/Björn Ulvaeus musical Chess. He has also made a number of international appearances, for example on the album Islands by Mike Oldfield.

However, Björn J:son Lindh is probably best known for all his solo albums, rather than appearances on other musicians albums.

Although Björn J:son Lindh is an excellent flutist, he has made use of various synthesizers on many of his recordings. Some of his songs are relatively experimental, using the highest technology and most interesting instruments of that time, such as the Synclavier which he made excellent use of on the album Atlantis, together with Ralph Lundsten as the engineer.
