[edit] Please don't feed the trollsThanks for joining in the fight against vandalism, but this kind of thing is what is called "feeding the trolls". Warn vandals curtly, but clearly where needed, clear up the damage they do, but say as little as possible that they'll later be able to gloat over or show to their chums. Saying less, or more simply, factual and boring statements has the effect of reducing the vandal's urge to return. The vandal is looking for excitement, so making personalised statements gives the idea that the efforts are getting to us. There is a hidden, even stronger sense of fun and pride in not giving the vandals the satisfaction of getting a rise out of you. Perhaps, if you want to get more involved in vandal fighting, you want to add a {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} user tag to your user page. It displays like this:
LittleOldMe 13:59, 27 October 2006 (UTC) Thanks, I will try to be much more considerate the next time round. Someformofhuman 06:51, 24 November 2006 (UTC) [edit] List of songs featured in the simpsons
You're welcome. It was my pleasure helping out. Lately, I've been surfing aroung Wikipedia looking for lists that need some help. I've noticed a lot of people aren't very good with the Wiki formatting and after a while things just start to get hairy. I'll try to finish up the parodies table tonight or tomorrow. Prometheusg 00:50, 9 March 2007 (UTC) [edit] MS Paint skyscrapersHey man, sorry. I was going to answer but I got distracted, busy and end up forgetting. Well, my problem with those images is that I saw a lot of gradients and strong anti-aliasing, which is extremely unnatural for MS Paint drawings, especially of that magnitude. The fact the images were poorly-compressed JPEGs didn't help much on this aspect either. (you should consider providing full resolution images on a lossless format such as PNG or GIF) You're saying now that you've used additional programs for special effects, and some of these can be explained by that. Still, it seems that the largest resolutions available were not the full resolutions of those images, so it just doesn't look pixel artish enough for something detailed and of this scale made in MS Paint. It looked a lot more like some mix between vector and pixel art to me, and that's why I found it hard to believe. But well, I don't know what to do, really. All Wikipedia has is your word on it, and that's not really verifiable. What I know is that if the link is to be included, it should also mention any of the other tools used. Also, be sure to give a good reason on the talk page of why that website deserves to be on the external links section. Good luck, and again, sorry for not answering sooner. — Kieff | Talk 02:43, 19 March 2007 (UTC) [edit] ManiacThanks for creating the page about the song Maniac. This is a useful addition to the article about Flashdance.--Ianmacm 19:21, 21 March 2007 (UTC) With Pleasure :-) Someformofhuman 02:23, 24 April 2007 (UTC) [edit] Taipei 101No problem, I was starting to get tired of the constant edit warring as well. Only admins have the ability to lock articles, the template at the top of the page is just a marker. You can find more info on page protection here. In general, becoming an admin isn't that big a deal, though you generally have to stick around for a while, while keeping a cool head before people will trust you with the house keys, so to speak. You seem to be off to a good start so far, keep up the good work. -Loren 06:24, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sears TowerThe truth is, any article is somewhat POV. Yes, the Sears article is a bit jingoistic. The Petronas Towers were the 'official' world's tallest buildings from 1998 to 2004, according to the rules then in place by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. The rules basically stated that spires count, antennas don't. End of story.Ryoung122 02:36, 8 July 2007 (UTC) Ha ha "End of story" Agreed. Someformofhuman 02:43, 8 July 2007 (UTC) [edit] ReplyGenerally, Wikipedia prefers screenshots and official promo images. As well, the images need to illustrate a key point of an article, which the image doesn't seem to do. -- Scorpion0422 05:08, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Taipei 101Hi again, I started a new discussion here and no one has replied (possibly means no one cares), do you have any opinion on this? If not, I think I'm going to modify the page (but I'll still leave the hidden comment there).--Jerry 20:41, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Alright, I believe the sources contain good information, but since a GA reviewer objected the use of the sources as references, I put them under external links. Most of the statements those sources backed up are already supported by another source anyways. Hope that's all right.--Jerry 20:36, 26 October 2007 (UTC) [edit] ReplyThere's been no change in rules, unsourced cultural references sections have always been discouraged. The only reason all of the unsourced ones haven't been removed is because we don't have enough people to fight all of the IPs that would continually readd this "vital" information. -- Scorpion0422 04:25, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Chrysler Building GAIf you want to list a building for GA nomination I suggest you got to the WP:GAN page abd follow the instructions there. I hope that answers your question. If you want to, I can review your article according to the WP:WIAGA standards. [edit] Re: SkyscraperHi. I think your reasons for reverting some of my edits (regarding the images) are reasonable, but the only thing that slightly bothered me is that you reverted all of my edits along with it, including the other unrelated additions I made to the History section. I'll assume good faith here and assume that it was an accident on your part, but it would be more helpful if you only revert the specific changes you disagree with rather than all of them. Now that I've got my rambling out of the way, I'm quite happy with the edits you made to the images in the article. Keep up the good work! Jagged 85 (talk) 03:00, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Might as well scrap the entire section? That section is good, and it explains how skyscrapers defined a skyline. I've been here long enough protecting that article from further abuse (You should see what it looks like 3 years ago!) and I feel biasness is in the air, and not good for the soul of Wikipedia. Shall we scrap the entire section for good? Someformofhuman Speak now! 06:59, 18 February 2008 (UTC) [edit] Chrysler BuildingI live in New York so I got the buzz on the new Bank of America Tower (New York). I could not find a reference (too lazy to look) so I took a photo myself yesterday of the spire, and pointed to it. The spire was finished around December 12. My photo is at www.hyzercreek.com/1200feet.htm Also I reworded your writing because my English is very good.Morgan Wright (talk) 19:08, 31 December 2007 (UTC) [edit] This is for you
