Can someone substantiate with a quotation that soma is "a combination of morphia and cocaine in tablet form"? IIRC the chemical composition of the drug was not described although its effects (narcotic/tranquilizer) were. Ellsworth 23:03, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

Why does this page have a link to nascar at the bottom?

[edit] Etymology

I have always heard that Huxley's soma comes from the Greek word soma, meaning "dead body", as the drug makes the person as a dead body. Any insights?75.2.97.75 06:21, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Psychedelic Mushrooms

I just took out the word fictional when it is used to describe the psychedelic mushrooms in the book. While Huxley never gives a clear description of what kind of mushroom in it, whenever someone says hallucinogenic mushrooms the psilocybe genus comes to mind. And there is no reason to believe, especially when Will takes the mushrooms, that they are not psilocybes. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.167.145.176 (talk) 21:03, 7 December 2006 (UTC).
