Somy Ali (born March 25, 1976) is a former Bollywood actress and now model and journalist. She is known to have previously been involved with Bollywood film star Salman Khan.

Born to an Iraqi mother, Tehmina and a Pakistani father, Madan, she has two sisters, and one younger brother. After studying in Karachi, she, her mom and brother re-located to Florida U.S.A, before moving to India to focus on her acting career where she appeared in 9 movies and had several modeling assignments. She was unable to establish herself in Bollywood, lasting from 1992 to 1999 in the business.
In 1999 Somy returned to U.S.A. and appeared in several talk shows regarding political and social issues. She upgraded and got degrees from New York Film Academy on film making; in psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Florida; and in journalism from the University of Miami.

She had a wide-publicized affair with actor Salman Khan. Somy is Agnostic.
Her passion for social and political issues and events, actress and model Somy Ali decided to expand her career to include writing and journalism. In November 1999, she moved to the United States and she received a Bachelor's degree in psychology which she finished in three years. Following that she pursued a Masters degree in print journalism at the University of Miami.[1]
While attending the University of Miami, Somy developed an interest in documentary films, therefore left UM in 2003 to attend the New York Film Academy. She obtained a degree in film making, direction, script writing, and editing.[2]
Some of her first projects included short films on Abortion, Domestic Violence, Teenage suicide and Lives of Muslim Women.[3]
For the past year, Somy has been involved with women's rights issues in South Asia. She is working towards bringing the plight of rape and domestic violence victims to media's attention. An active member of the Asian-American Network Against Abuse of Women (ANAA) Somy has written articles about Dr. Shazia Khalid, Sonia Naz, and Mukhtaran Mai. All of these women are victims of rape and have fought and are still fighting for justice in Pakistan. "My goal is to help all of these women and make sure that every girl/woman in my country and universally is able to obtain an education and has her basic human rights," says Somy.[4]
