Something Up My Sleeve earned Bogguss her third straight gold record and is one of her strongest albums. Bogguss has always chosen songs written by some of Nashville's finest, but on this album, she (along with her husband, Crider) takes a much more prominent role as songwriter. Something Up My Sleeve spawned two Top 10 singles including the spunky "Hey Cinderella" that Bogguss co-wrote with Grammy-nominated songwriters Matraca Berg and Gary Harrison. Two other singles, "You Wouldn't Say That to a Stranger" and Gretchen Peters's introspective "Souvenirs," were less successful.
The UK release included the bonus track "Take It to the Limit," which Bogguss recorded for the Eagles tribute album, A Common Thread.
