Something Is Squeezing My Skull

Something Is Squeezing My Skull is the title of a song written by Morrissey along with Alain Whyte, the two being responsible for lyrics and music respectively. The song is to be released on his 2008 album Years of Refusal.

The song made its debut on January 18, 2008 in Strasbourg, France on the European leg of Morrissey's 2007/2008 'Greatest Hits Tour'. It also received its British television premiere in February 2008 on the programme 'Later... with Jools Holland'. The song was recorded in LA and produced by Jerry Finn, the man behind 2004’s You Are The Quarry.

The song is a commentary on depression and anti-depressant drugs. The song namechecks pharmaceuticals such as diazepam, temazepam and lithium. It also references what was once considered treatments for depression by mentioning habit reversal training and electroconvulsive therapy.
