Coordinates: Someshwar is a census town in Dakshina Kannada district in the Indian state of Karnataka.
There is a village named Someshwar near Ratnagiri in Maharashtra. This village is now a suburb of Ratnagiri, but until recently it was inaccessible by road. Now a bridge has been built over the river which separates it from Ratnagiri. There is a swayambhu temple of Lord Shiva in the village since last 400-500 years.

As of 2001 India census[2], Someshwar had a population of 20,098. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Someshwar has an average literacy rate of 81%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 85%, and female literacy is 77%. In Someshwar, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
