From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Some Kind of Wonderful" is a song written by Ernie Fields and John Ellison. It was recorded in 1967 by the group Soul Brothers Six, reaching the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. In 1974, Grand Funk Railroad recorded a version of it for the group's album All the Girls in the World Beware!!!. Grand Funk Railroad's version featured a quiet, simple melody and devotional lyric at the start, subsequently ramping up to a semi-gospel full band approach. Reaching number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 at the tail end of 1974, it is one of the band's best-known songs.
The Fantastic Johnny C also recorded a version of the song. Later, Huey Lewis & The News charted with their own version, including it on their 1994 covers album Four Chords & Several Years Ago.
Buddy Guy released a version of the song on his 1993 album, "Feels Like Rain."
"Some Kind of Wonderful" appeared on the popular 2004 video game Grand Theft Auto San Andreas playing on the fictional radio station K-DST.
