December 8, 2005. I updated a bit of this from The Salvation Army Year Book, 2005, and from The Salvation Army International Headquarters website: http://www1.salvationarmy.org/ihq/www_sa.nsf. Stephen Court, posted December 8, 2005.

Updated statistics from the 2006 Year Book and gave correct title for the book that replaced the Doctine Book. Al Ward, February 19, 2006

[edit] To do

Here's a list of things I think this page needs (or doesn't need), and I'm going to have a crack at fixing them as time permits. Anyone else feeling the need is more than welcome to put fingers to keyboard as well. I have suggested a few sections that need writing --- it may be more appropiate to break these out into their own pages.

  • Explain what the Pastoral Care Council is and that each Corps has one. Currently, the article seems to suggests that there is only one PCC.
  • Figure out what to do with the word 'Salvationist' in the first sentence. It currently redirects to The Salvation Army, which doesn't seem wrong, but not right, either.
  • The term 'articles of war' links to the article covenant. Again, this isn't wrong, but it doesn't seem entirely appropriate. I would suggest we need a section on the articles of war.
  • It seems strange that 'boy' and 'girl' are linked to the relevant articles, but 'covenant community' isn't.
  • Actually, I think we need a section on uniform here. Hmm, I see a flamewar approaching!
  • Do we need a link to 'Warriors'?
  • There is some language inappropriate to an encyclopedia --- for example, 'Salvationist Soldiers are considered by their peers to be covenanted warriors exercising 'holy passion' to win the world for Jesus.' I think we need to tone the jingoism down a bit.
  • More links to be excised: 'Orders' and 'Regulations' aren't need, IMHO. Again, a section ' the O&Rs wouldn't go astray.
  • The Year Book reference can be updated. Actually, YB 2008 should be out in the next month or two.
