Fixed some apparent miskeying and restored the See Also subheading. Mugaliens 23:11, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

An anonymous poster made the comment that "–The photo is not an array, it is a solar panel. An array id is number of multiple solar panels that constitute a solar electric system." I cannot verify the correct usage of the term, but I believe that the clarification request belongs on the talk page and not the main article page. Can anyone confirm whether the photo shows a solar panel or a solar array? Chrylis 23:04, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Should really be the PV array page?

Seems like 90% of the folks mean photovoltaic module when they search for solar panels. Seems like the solar panels page should really be the current PV page, and at the top mention that solar panels can also refer to X, Y, etc.. Or maybe a disambiguation page? Albrnick 18:52, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Calculator panels

I'd like to know more about the development of solar panels for calculators. What is the history? Who developed it? Kingturtle 16:13, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merge?

Should this be merged with Photovoltaics and/or Solar Cell?

Yeah, I think so. 71.240.184.74 19:55, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mercury

I am looking for some information of the use of solar panels that contain mercury. They are a great source to use for heating h2o and I wanted to know if they are still available? mowpower

[edit] External Link

I deleted the "Heat My Home" link, I found it to be a commercial site with not much educational or informative value. Dept of Alchemy 08:03, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm a little new to Wikipedia, so I am putting it up here rather than blindly deleting what a recent person added to the page.

Under solar panel brands, someone has added "Solar panels are made from pure silicon. They can cost up to 1,500 a piece."

The problems are:

a) That has nothing to do with solar panel brands b) Not all panels are made from silicon, there are copper-based thin-film panels etc. c) The price doesn't make sense - no unit of currency and custom-build panels can cost far more for a 'piece'. The industry tends to talk in Watt/Peaks (Wp) price, how much you pay per Watt, rather than the price of the overall panel (since with so many different sizes and types of panel it is hard to compare on unit price).

I could add a bit of information on pricing if needed, but price depends on what part of the chain you are looking at, and I am not sure if the audience is interested in manufacturer, wholesale or retail pricing.

Here is a link to some pricing information across the whole PV chain: China 2007 Silicon, Ingot, Wafer, Cell and Panel Pricing
