Solo Voyage (Одиночное Плавание), 1985, is a Soviet military thriller film, directed by Mickail Tumanishvili upon a story of Evgeny Mesyatsev.

A peak of Cold War times. An operator of the US cable TV stands inside a command post of the US airplane carrier, taking an interview of ship's commander. The commander says about current military maneuvers of the US fleet. Among other things, the commander points out a shape of an unknown warship that is seen on a horizon line, speaking about Russians. According to commander, they constantly watch after American military games. At that time a man in the uniform of the US high-rank military officer meets Jack Hessalt, a veteran of Vietnam war. The military officer, an agent of CIA, appointed US Army major Jack Hessalt to be in charge of a missile command post inside a secret US military base in the Pacific Ocean. Jack is still troubled by memories of Vietnam, and realizes that he has no way out. While the US and Russian ships spy each other in a zone of Pacific military maneuvers, a single Russian frigate moves near by group of small isles. The combat patrolling of the ship is getting over, she moves to Russian waters. After arriving on a US military base, Hessalt got a secret order to launch a missile with a conventional warhead to foreign civil sealiner. CIA planned this operation to blame some ship of Russian fleet for unsuccessful launch of failed missile. The aim of the operation is to prevent upcoming summit of Soviet and American leaders by discrediting Russian authorities. Jack understands that all his crew will be immediately murdered after end of the operation. There are also a few desperate guys inside the base, who feels the situation similar to Hessalt's way. Finally, Jack decides to kill a few his mates, taking full control of the base. Doing this, Jack and his ilk seize an intermediate-range missile, equipped by nuclear warhead and ready to perform a suicidal attack to Russian frigate that is moving near by isles where the US secret base is located...
