[edit] History

On October 13, 1997 Solid Gold FM was launched. The original line up was Blackie for Breakfast, Adam "Boom Boom" Butler (10 am - 2 pm), Big Tony Amos (2 pm - 7 pm) and Brian Staff (7 pm - midnight).

Solid Gold started in the Auckland market and over the following years spread across the country to currently 25 markets. Since its inception little has changed in our line up, that is because the music we play matters to our hosts and we know it matters to our listeners too.

We are proud to play nothing but the greatest music ever made - we are happy to let other radio stations play the new music. But, when you want a fix of the music you grew up with you know where to come.

Over the years, as well as playing the music that you consider yours we have sent listeners to many parts of the world - to see Bruce Springsteen, to Graceland, 10 friends to Fiji, 10 friends to the Gold Coast and much more.

Today, Solid Gold FM is the Home of the 60s and 70s attracting a wide range of listeners across the country - its current line up is : Kevin Black and Alan Whetton in Breakfast ,Macca, Muzza and Adam Butler. Solid Gold's management team is: Programme Director Brad King and Assistant Program Director Brent Harbour.

What can you expect in the future? A Radio Station with interesting promotions, great prizes and entertaining hosts - but as always the focus will always be on the music.
