solidDB

solidDB is a relational database management system offered by Solid, an IBM Company. solidDB includes an in-memory database as well as a traditional database, which both employ the same SQL interface, and a high availability option. Companies using solidDB include Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco Systems, EMC Corporation, Hewlett-Packard, Nokia and Siemens AG.

Solid also offers solidDB for MySQL, a version of MySQL that includes a solidDB storage engine. solidDB for MySQL is open source software available under the GNU General Public License.

Solid was acquired by IBM in late 2007 [1]. It was a privately held company originally founded in Helsinki, Finland in 1992. Investors included CapMan and Apax Partners. Solid is headquartered in Cupertino, California.
