The Solent Stars is a basketball team from Southampton, who until 2007 competed in the English Basketball League, Division 1. From 1987-1990 they competed in the British Basketball League, and were one of the founder teams.
However on August 31, 2007, it was announced that the club would no longer be fielding a senior men's team in the National Leagues due to a dispute with their home venue, Fleming Park Leisure Centre in Eastleigh. The club immediately withdrew from EBL Division 1 for the near-future, although owner Bob Paulley was keen to stress this was not the end for the club [1].
