Soldados de Salamina is a novel published in 2001 by Spanish author Javier Cercas, and a movie based on the book was produced in 2003.

Published by Javier Cercas in 2001. The title is an allusion to the famous Battle of Salamis in which the Athenian fleet defeats the Persians. The book has been acclaimed by both readers and critics in Spain and was top of the best-seller book list for many months.

The nucleus of the book is Rafael Sánchez Mazas, writer and idealist of the Falange Española and close collaborator of José Antonio Primo de Rivera, and in particular the event of how he escaped his execution.

The author, Javier Cercas, becomes a character of the book, appearing as a journalist that investigates the event in order to write a book.

Soldados de Salamina was taken to the big screen by the director and screenwriter David Trueba in 2002, premiering in Spain March 21, 2003.
