Sokal (Ukrainian: Сокаль, translit. Sokal’) is a city located on the banks of the Buh River in the Lviv Oblast of western Ukraine. Serving as the administrative center of the Sokalsky Raion (district), the city itself is also designated as a separate raion within the oblast. It is located at around .
Sokal was in Poland 1918-1944 and its Western part was in Poland 1944-1951.
The current estimated population is around 21,700 (as of 2001).
