[edit] Packages can contain any file(s), not just software

It is possible to create a package that contains something other than an installation-related file. For example, you can create a package that contains only an MS Word document. I do not have the knowledge to update the page, but I hope someone else does.

[edit] package symbols

When i go to most linux download sites i see symbols next to each packet and i have no idea what they mean. A brief explanation of the symbols would be nice. The symbols pictures are probably free to display. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.156.171.166 (talk) 20:26, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
