I've added an advert tag because the SIIA article (with exception of the codie part, rewritten by me) has been lifted straight off the various SIIA web pages linked in the headings. Perhaps this material can be shorted down and used, if it is also cleaned for peacock terms. Arru 21:27, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

It would help if you could point out an example of where a Peakcock term is used in the text from the page. I have read it over and over and am unable to find an example of such text. --David C. Thomas 19:12, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps peacock is not the right word, but the text still does read like an advertisement: … leading voice … across a wide-range… working closely with members … key issues … (from "Public policy") Expressions like gain insight are normatively charged, they may be used in marketing and political speak, not in an encyclopedia. Descriptions of the various divisions contains no information about them except reasons to join… Moreover, it contains absolutely no criticism of the SIIA, or even mentions that its actions (particularly anti-piracy) have been universally well received if that is the case. Finally, as stated above, the article is a direct copy of SIIA's marketing texts. Did you mean specifically peacock terms or that the NPOV is actually unwarranted? Arru 15:31, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

I've picked up the big axe, to cut some clarity from this heap of text. Some points where the original text was lacking as an encyclopedia article:

  • It did not say when the SPA was founded
  • Neither if its members are predominantly american or international
  • As above, no critique on actions - particularly anti-piracy - which does exist
  • In contrast to this one-sided view the descriptions of various divisions were long and written in a redundant manner
  • No references to "competing" organizations (already fixed)

David, if you have the time I hope you want to clarify any facts or missing tidbits. I once again want to point out that I do not consider the original SIIA web texts particularly bad, they were just unencyclopedic and promoting the SIIAs Point Of View - naturally. The link to the wikipedia 'Piracy' article in the Anti-Piracy section was unrelated. I changed it to Copyright infringement, which seems like a better choice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.164.99.106 (talk • contribs)

The external link to the Scott&Scott LLP site is mostly an advertisement and should be removed. I think I'll go ahead and do it now. Krushia 21:41, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
