Software quality management

The computer-scientist Ian Sommerville uses software quality management (SQM) as an umbrella-term that includes:

• Software quality assurance
• Software configuration management
• Verification and Validation.

SQM aims to put in place software processes, procedures and standards, and to ensure adherence to them.

Many people use the terms SQM and SQA (Software quality assurance) interchangeably.
