"Softer, Softest" is the last single by the Hole from their album Live Through This. It is said to be R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe's favorite Hole song. Courtney Love's husband Kurt Cobain can be heard on background vocals towards the end of the song. According to BMI's website, the only authors of the song are Courtney Love and Eric Erlandson, despite being credited on record as a collective "Hole."
