Soft Skull Press is an independent publisher founded by Sander Hicks in 1992, owned by Counterpoint LLC. It has published an array of fiction and non-fiction by authors such as Wanda Phipps, Mark Ames, Paul Berman, Lisa Crystal Carver, Dennis Cooper, Douglas A. Martin, William Upski Wimsatt, James Hatfield, Maggie Estep, Nick Mamatas, Lydia Millet, Brian Gage, Jack Sargeant, Genesis P-Orridge, K. Thor Jensen, Lynne Tillman , Nate Powell, and Ken Dolan-Del Vecchio.
