Sofie Fatale (played by Julie Dreyfus) is a fictional character from the 2003 Quentin Tarantino film, Kill Bill Volume 1. She is O-Ren Ishii's lawyer, second-in-command, and best friend. Sofie Fatale is of mixed Japanese/French descent and serves as an interpreter and is seen speaking English, Japanese and French fluently.

[edit] Kill Bill Vol. 1

Sofie Fatale, on her phone, was present at the massacre in El Paso. Four years later she was present at the "House of Blue Leaves" when The Bride arrives to kill O-Ren Ishii. The Bride is in the bathroom when Sofie walks and answers her phone; the Auld Lang Syne ringtone is recognised by The Bride and remembers Sofie from the El Paso massacre. The Bride captures Sofie and brings her to O-Ren Ishii. The Bride then cuts off Sofie's left arm (the arm she holds her phone with) as a means of both seeking revenge on her and showing Ishii her intentions for a duel.

Later The Bride tortures her to find out the locations of the rest of the members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, then sends her rolling down a hill to a hospital for psychological attention so she can live on and tell Bill what has happened and that Kiddo (The Bride's real last name) is still alive. It is safe to assume that while Sofie was not an official member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, she was at least involved in their operations and was in personal contact with Bill.

[edit] Trivia

  • A removed scene, only to be seen in the Japanese version, shows Kiddo cutting off Fatale's other arm during the interrogation.
