Sofia Hayat

Sofia Hayat is a British-Asian actress/singer/model. Sofia has worked on both British and Bollywood projects. She hails from the UK and is of Pakistani heritage.
She first came to public attention on Sky channel, Zee TV, where she hosted her own TV show for 3 years in 2000. The show became a cult amongst the young British Asians, as she helped change many asian ideals.
Zee TV is an India-based satellite television channel in the Zee Network umbrella, which carries broadcasts in Hindi, Urdu, and other regional languages of India. As well as broadcasting in South Asia, it also reaches audiences in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, East Asia, Australasia and North America.
Zee TV was launched in India in October 1992 becoming the first Hindi satellite channel. This channel formerly had a partnership with STAR TV. But STAR ended their partnership with ZEE TV (now ZEE Telefilms, Ltd.) when Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation acquired STAR TV. Zee TV was launched in the UK in 1995, replacing TV Asia (which still broadcasts in the United States). Zee TV was launched in the USA in 1998.
Sofia was in UK TV Talent show Bollywood Star in which she lost out on the first prize by about 3 places. She has recently completed feature films The Unforgettable, Cash and Curry, and Exitz.
"The Unforgettable", premiered at The Venice Film Festival in 2007 to rave reviews. Sofia played the lead role opposite Raji James.
In Cash and Curry Sofia plays a gun-toting wife of a gangster, speaking of the role, Sofia said:
"I feel like a cross between Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction and Charlie's Angels".
Sofia was asked to write the official song for the victims and survivors of The Pakistani and Indian earthquake. The appeal concert was at The Royal Albert Hall in London. The Independat newspaper said that, "the song reminded us why we were all there, and that Sofia's performance and song deserves to top the charts".
In 2006, Sofia was in a Band that released a song on MTV Base, the song got to Number 6 in the charts, with all proceeds going to "Mothers Against Guns".
This is the second time that Sofia represented a charity and gave up all royalties for the charities.
Sofia has also entertained the UN troops in 2008 and is the official Ghurka Sweetheart.
