- ...assassinated president Salvador Allende
Accounts of his death vary. Some say he committed suicide with a rifle rather than fighting against the coup. Unless the Salvador Allende states unequivocally that he was assassinated, other articles shouldn't assert it as if it were an established fact. --Uncle Ed 12:57, 11 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Lagos: PPD
Lagos is a member of the PPD, not the PS. The PPD are the "reformed" Socialists who were grouped around a headquarters organization in Paris during the Pinochet dictatorship. The PS was led by Miguel Almeida from a headquarters in East Berlin. I'll fix this by this weekend if no one else has started it. glasperlenspiel 07:38, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- Lagos is actually a member of both parties and his party affiliation is often written as PS/PPD. It may be incorrect to say he was elected as a member of the Socialist Party, but I'm not certain. Eliot 17:48, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Allende: suicide
The suicide theory has become a matter of consensus in Chile. Ariel Dorfman is one of many noted Chilean leftists who have come to accept it (see his memoir Heading Southward, Looking Northward). in the 1970s many people, particularly political exiles, denied the suicide theory because it felt shameful to them, since they had been totally defeated within Chile by force. Today few people in Chile defend the assassination theory. But then, La Moneda was bombed by Chilean Air Force jets. Pinochet and the plotters didn't directly murder him, but his death was absolutely a consequence of the coup.glasperlenspiel 07:38, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:1973-psposterallende.jpg
Image:1973-psposterallende.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
