Socialist Unity (Italy)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Socialist Unity (Unità Socialista, US) was a tiny social-democratic party in Italy.
It was founded in 2004 by Claudio Signorile and Rino Formica, both former leading members of the Italian Socialist Party. In 2004 it formed an alliance, named Socialists United for Europe, with the New Italian Socialist Party of Gianni De Michelis.
In 2006 the party joined the Italian Democratic Socialists. In 2007, however, Signorile led his group into the Democratic Party, while Formica, who did not join SDI the year before, joined the new Socialist Party, along with his own Socialism is Freedom association.
