The Socialist Party of Thailand, a political party in Thailand, was active during the 1970s. SPT was led by its general secretary Boonsanong Punyodyana.
SPT did well in the 1975 elections.
Punyodyana was murdered on February 28, 1976. Around 10,000 people participated in his memorial.
After the October 6 massacre the same year, many SPT cadres went into exile or joined guerrillas in the northern parts of the country.
