Category talk:Socialists

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This category seems potentially highly problematic. Was Stalin a socialist? Is Tony Blair? Unless we are to be POV, and judge what a "real" Socialist is, I think we'd have to include both. Which would make the category so vague as to be practically useless. john k 21:37, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Not necessarily. Tony Blair would fit comfortably in a category "social democrats", while Stalin would fit in a category: "communist head of states". The category "socialists" should only be used for these people who do self-identify and/or ar seen as socialists, but which you can't fit into a more specific category.

[edit] Communist or Socialist?

Should all those entries in the Communists category also be included in Socialists category? If not then Lenin should be removed. Communism is a form of Socialism, but if we include Communists in the Socialist category, then doesn't the Communist category become redundant? Iron Ghost 18:35, 12 August 2005 (UTC)
