Sobroso Castle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sobroso Castle is located on the Landin hill in the village of Vilasobroso in the province of Pontevedra, Spain.
Its name originates from the 'Sobrosos', the cork trees that surround it. It was restored from its ruinous state thanks to the efforts of the journalist Don Alejo Carrera Muñoz who in 1923 bought the ruins of the castle from the Count of Torreceideira for the sum of 5.000 pts. He carried out this work single-handedly without any help from local authorities until 1967 when Don Alejo died when it was purchased by the local authorities.
