Soacha is a city and municipality in Colombia on the southern edge of Bogotá, the country's capital. It has an important industrial zone and is home to mostly working class families.

With a population of 398,295 inhabitants (2005 census), it is also Bogota's most populous suburb.

Soacha was founded on December 31 in 1600. It gained national notoriety after the presidential candidate Luis Carlos Galán was assassinated on August 18, 1989 while visiting the city during his presidential campaign.
