The SNUPY Awards were created by the SNU Office of Sports Information in 2004 and is designed to honor Southern Nazarene University’s Student-Athletes for excellence on the playing field, in the classroom and in life. Any one of SNU’s athletes are eligible to win a SNUPY based on their nomination in a specific category.
Southern Nazarene University’s coaches and athletic staff submit the nominations for each award. The SNUPY Awards Committee then narrows the nominees down. The final vote consists of an Athletic Department vote, an online campus wide vote, and final vote of the SNUPY Awards Committee. Current Southern Nazarene University student-athletes, faculty, staff and students as well as former athletic alumni serve as presenters for the show. Presenter are selected by that same committee.
The floor tables are reserved only for the SNU student-athletes and coaches. The Sawyer Center will seat approximately 5,500 for the SNUPY Awards Show, with upper-level seating for general admission.
There are 15 awards presented at the SNUPY awards, and each year has potential for a new award or two. There is also special recognition of the current years All-Americans, Academic All-Americans, and a special presentation to the graduating senior class.
