[edit] spam?
Hi SNP- you seem knowledgable about what is and is not spam - would you count [this] as spam? The IP user added 5 at the same time, I removed one and gave them a note about it, but I didn't really feel bold enough to remove it from pages I was not watching. Thanks for your help/advice. Cheers Geologyguy 00:39, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hello Geologyguy. Yes I would. I’m not so knowledgeable, but I’m getting a little bolder. I’ve watched how user:Vsmith and user:DanielCD watch over some pages in my areas of interest – when in doubt, I suggest asking them. If you mess up, it will probably get fixed anyway. I’m usually researching and working on a project for WP with my minimal available time, but it is irritating to see the spam and sabotage. Fortunately, there are many dedicated people who fix things. What I’ve learned is, if users only add links, and not content, it usually gets reverted pretty quick. SNP 01:11, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

- P.S. Geologyguy: I see you are a geologist, whereas I'm more comfortable with evolution and phygenetics. I'm researching the House Range in Utah where I hunted fossils when much younger. Maybe we can collaborate on this. Montana's not too far away. SNP 01:18, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks - indeed, I too watch and try to emulate Vsmith and DanielCD. Researching the House Range for Wikipedia, or for your own research? Cheers Geologyguy 01:43, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

- Sorry, yes, for WP. But I am slow and thorough.
