The time has come.for me to retire.
Following the latest board resolution that, in my view, betrayed and robbed the community (the blokes who actually made this projects what they are now and keeps them running) of the right to choose the their trustees, I feel no longer welcome here.
What is interesting is that the Board thought it was right to take such decision without consulting the community. They basically created a self-perpetuating board from one day to another. It's really sad.
Give the continuous lack of involvement of the community (not the chapters, the guys who actually sped their time editing this place) in board decisions, I think that there's not much to do here. The board has taken over. Rejoice.
While I have my own ideas about the timing of such a change, and the reasons behind it, they don't count anymore.
I just hope that this will be Florence Nibart-Devouard, Jimmy Wales, Jan-Bart de Vreede, Domas Mituzas, Stuart West, Kat Walsh and Michael Snow's en:Poll tax. (It seems that the chair and the vicechair can't agree on whether Ms. Brioschi was or was not part of the meeting. Go figure out who's right :( )
For me, for my two cents, I hereby ask the immediate resignation of all the present board, the withdrawal of the said resolution and immediate elections to be able to choose less power-hungly representatives, who can act transparently in the best interests of the community. (Not that I believe anybody cares about what I say, but much more prominent wikimedians have joined the petition at Meta:Community petition, so I hope we can make something out of this. By the way, I dislike immensely the whole Volunteer Council idea, but this is on a completely different scale!)
Goodbye everybody, it's been great being here.

P.S.: You will be seeing me edit sometimes and the ties I made to our IRC community will remain.
