Snillfjord is a municipality in the county of Sør-Trøndelag, Norway.
Snillfjord was separated from Hemne July 1, 1924. The eastern part of Heim was merged with Snillfjord January 1, 1964.
[edit] The name
The municipality is named after Snillfjorden. The first element is probably an old rivername (now Bergselva). The (proposed) rivername is maybe derived from snjallr 'fast'.
[edit] Coat-of-arms
The coat-of-arms is from modern times (1990). It shows a digging fork.
