[edit] Sneek
Sneek received city rights in 1456. The city is well known for its Waterpoort (lit. Water gate) and the Sneekweek, a yearly sailing festival. Sneek is one of the eleven cities of the Elfstedentocht.
This quaint little city has a wonderful shopping center that is walker and biker friendly. There are high end clothing stores, nice restaurants, bars, music stores, cafes, and neat little coffee shops and an old fashion candy store.
