SMK Puteri

SMK Puteri is an all-girl secondary school in Seremban, Malaysia. It is one of the excellent schools in Seremban. The school is widely known as Puteri and is famous for its achievement in academics and sports.

SMK Convent was opened on the 3rd October, 1904 by the British Resident, Mr Weld. At that time, there was only one block and 5 Sisters as teachers. There were only 36 students in the first batch.
[edit] Japanese Occupation
During the Japanese Occupation, the school was used as a shelter for sisters and orphans from Taiping and Singapore. After the Japanese left on the 1st October, 1945, the school was reopened and 800 new students were accepted, and the school continued to expand.

A new school was built because the land on which the Convent stood was taken by Metrojaya for development. Development, however, was stalled leaving an abandoned project. This was due to the stagnation of water, three stories deep (underground parking) that appeared out of nowhere, and the developers had no idea how it came there or how to drain it. This site now sits as a huge, unused lake in the centre of town.
A plot of land near Taman AST was chosen to built the new school. On the 8th July 1993, the ground breaking ceremony was performed by the Menteri Besar, YAB Dato’ Seri Utama Sri Mohd Isa Bin Dato’ Haji Abdul Samad. The school was, sadly, renamed SMK Puteri.
The total cost for the school was RM5,305,170.00. SMK Puteri has 3 blocks that consist of 3 floors, 2 blocks consisting of 2 floors and 2 blocks consisting only one level. Among the facilities in the school provided are;

The SMK Puteri football team is named Serikandi. The U-18 team was the champion at state level, whereas the U-15 team was placed 3rd at state level. This was highest achievement by the school's football team. The team, like other top schools, have their own rivals. Currently the team consists of students mainly from Form 2 and 4.
