[edit] History
SMK KGV was first established on 15 January 1923 in a train station building as a GES. On 7 October 1926, the main building construction started.
SMK King George V was officiated by W.G. Ormsbygore on the 23rd of April 1928 in conjunction with St. George’s Day, a historical day in England. The name of the school has its origins from a myth regarding St. George who according to legend successfully brought peace to England, which was threatened at that time by a dragon.

[edit] School anthem
We Georgians faithfully shall serve our King and Country
On land and sea wherever Georgians be we proudly fly the School banner high
Our School brings joy no words can't tell how we honour thee
United we are together or apart
Forever contributing ideas to progress
Sing our School song
Brings memories so sweet
With gratitude so deep we hail thee
Sing our school song
Brings memories so sweet
With gratitude so deep we hail thee
We Georgians faithfully shall serve our King and country till eternity
[edit] School badge
The legend is represented in the school crest which has the image of a warrior slaying a dragon. This image is an analogy that great leaders and warriors will emerge from this school. Beneath the image are the words “Veni, Vidi, Vici” on a yellow banner which means 'I came, I saw and I conquered'. These words are attributed to Julius Caesar. The yellow banner, on the other hand, signifies undivided loyalty to the school, country, religion and king.
In the year 1953, the school badge was altered as the image of the cross and a legendary western leader was considered inappropriate. The school crest now had only the initials “KGV” on the badge. It was then changed again.
A combination of local influence and the original crest resulted in the image of the cross being changed to V (five) and has remained the same till this day.
