This is real. http://www.spywareremove.com/removesmitfraud.html It is a significant problem. I will try to update the article a little removing the deletion tag. I object to it being deleted. Do a Google Search. Nisanu 20:35, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

SmitFraudFix, in my experience, does a wonderful job of removing certain strains of malware. I definitely wouldn't say that it just installs more malware as this article suggests... Jackdempsey187 22:35, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

I agree with Nisanu that the problem is real and with Jack that SmitFraudFix is not a malware installer. I just used it to remove Anti Vermins and it seems to have done so without leaving a mark. Plus it is free. SpikeMolec 16:31, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

SmitFraudFix got rid of SpyFalcon for me. This article needs to be edited as not to lead people away from possible solutions for their problems.

I have the file core.cache.dsk on in my system32/drivers folder. It will not go away no matter what. Smitfraud fix doesnt work, nor does deleting the file in safemode work(it always comes back) pleasehelp me! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.154.252.113 (talk) 16:55, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Alternative for deleting Smitfraud core

For the variant that involves the files core.sys and core.cache.dsk. My PC is unable to boot into safe mode due to some driver problem. So to get rid of the bad files, I simply booted into the Recovery Console using the Windows CD. Basically, nothing is sacred in this mode since you are not running off the installed OS. Using the console, just switch into the system32\drivers directory and delete these 2 files. Ham Pastrami (talk) 22:13, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
