The Smith and Wesson (S & W) Model 17 is a six shot double action revolver chambered for .22 LR. Built on the medium "K" frame, it has adjustable sights and is very similar to its predecessor, the S&W K-22, differing only in minor details. The Model 17 is capable of shooting 1.5" groups at 50 yards.
Today, the Model 17 is survived by Smith & Wesson's Model 617, which is chambered for six or ten rounds and features 4" or 6" full underlug barrel.
