Smirnykh

Smirnykh (Russian: Смирных) is an urban-type settlement in Sakhalin Oblast, Russia. It is located in the central part of Sakhalin at 49.75° N 142.8333° E. Population: 7,561 (2002 Census); 9,693 (1989 Census). Former name was Keton during Japanese rule (1905-1947).

It was home to Smirnykh air base during the Cold War.
