Smint is a breath mint made by Chupa Chups, which bills it as "the first dental candy." Smints contain Xylitol, which has been demonstrated to have a plaque-reducing effect by attracting and starving the sucrose-seeking micro-organisms that cause tooth decay.[1] Smint has been endorsed by Toothfriendly, an international dental ratings organization.[1]

The ingredients of Smints are: sweeteners, Xylitol, flavoring, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, and phenylalanine.[citation needed]

[edit] Flavors

Since the original mint-flavored Smint debuted in 1994, other flavors have been added. Seven flavors are currently available: wintergreen mint, spearmint, peppermint, lemon, liquorice, wildberry, and peach.

There are currently ten flavors of the Smints mints and four flavors of the new "Smint and Gum" gum. Smints are still extremely difficult to find in US retail establishments due to their higher than industry average price. The Spangler Candy Co in Ohio offers Smints through their website but only the original mint flavor. Also, with shipping it will cost you around $40.00 for a box of 12 packs of Smints. As for the rest of the world, who cares?
