Smilisca phaeota is a species of frog in the Hylidae family. It is found in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, rivers, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marches, plantations , rural gardens, urban areas, heavily degraded former forest, ponds, and canals and ditches.
