[edit] Metastatic Breast Cancer Network (MBCN) Conference

The first Metastatic Breast Cancer Network (MBCN) Conference was held on November 18, 2006, in New York City. The conference was devoted solely to the concerns of people living with metastatic breast cancer.

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center sponsored the conference. The speakers included oncologists and cancer researchers who presented topics such as

  • metastatic breast cancer: one size does not fit all
  • new molecular targets for metastatic breast cancer
  • how to mitigate the long-term effects of treatment
  • clinical trials

The speakers also included women living with metastatic breast cancer, who described their struggles and coping mechanisms.

The conference also held breakout sessions to discuss issues related to living with metastatic breast cancer.

Metastatic Breast Cancer Network is planning the 2nd MBCN Conference to be held in Houston, Texas in 2007.
