[edit] BunBun
This is not a test not everything in an encyclopedia should have a history for example if you create and use a new toy, its a new toy there is no history but it is for real and you are using it therefore you can add some information about it to an encyclopedia. one week ago there were no earthquake in Peru but now there is one and we can talk and write about it in wikipidia. I was not joking or making up a story about what I said. I created and used the word BunBun and now 3 other people who liked the idea are using that. Maybe in the future it will become as popular as Honey or baby. I am the inventor and I want to talk about that. If someone ells has a different idea can add it or edit it but please don't delete it. BunBun is for real. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shahyad (talk • contribs)

Toddhenry 04:09, 19 August 2007 (UTC)Hmmmmm, several members of the science press (Atlanta Journal Consitution, LA Times, Science magazine, National Public Radio) as well as students have asked for background info on yours truly (Todd Henry), so I figured I'd make their lives easier by putting something on Wikipedia.
- I suggest you take a look at Wikipedia:Autobiography, Wikipedia:Spam and Wikipedia:Notability. If you are notable, someone else will create a page for you. Smashville 04:13, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, in my opinion COI and AUTPO are reasons for extreme caution, but not reasons to delete, let alone speedy delete. I don't think the guy is all that likely to be notable, but an assertion of notability is enough to avoid db-nn, and I interpret db11 narrowly to mean articles that cant be improved. I improved it a little. What I did that was wrong was not tagging it for "notability", or looking for references further But I remind you that according to WP:CSD anyone except the author can remove speedy templates, admin or not, and so you should not use do not remove speedy templates in the edit summary unless it actually is the author. The correct course after i had removed it was not for you to put it back, but to take it to afd if you were sure it wasnt notable. according to WP:Deletion policy that's the way to go, not replacing it in the hope you will find another admin who agrees with you, though it seems you did--and it is certainly not an article i am going to fight for.DGG (talk) 05:43, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello. You recently placed a speedy tag on 小武. I'd just like to notify you that CSD G1 doesn't apply to content not written in English. Instead it should be tagged with {{notenglish}}. henrik•talk 07:42, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Issuing of warnings
Hi, Just a pointer whilst on vandal patrol, it is customary when issuing a warning on a new page to not start with a lvl4 warning, which you did here. Once a good faith level warning (lvl 1)has been issued we can go up through the warning, with the realisation that they fully understand the rules on wikipedia. Using a level 4 warning might be unecessary and inflame a situation where they may have stopped after one warning. Also just if you can remember to sign your warnings ~~~~ (though I think you just forgot this once). Any further questions please don't hesitate to get in touch. Regards Khukri 09:06, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

As I said on my talk page: thanks for pointing this out - I should have gone through the revision history. Instead, I just assumed that, since the topic itself seemed vaguely redundant, it was the work of a single user who copy-pasted the copyvio material and wrote a brief leader. Sorry about adding a CSD tag to Craig David's Fourth Studio Album. The way the article was titled and first created it looked like it could be just a general "oh, this artist has had rumors of a new album" type of thing. [edit] Wikimania in Atlanta!
Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!
P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 07:37, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, it seems like it's a series of something. I have not the slightest clue what it's a series of, though. If you know and would like to add that information, I'd certainly find it helpful. Otherwise, I hope you won't object to the use of the context template. It bugs me when I can't figure out what I'm looking at. That's not always a1, I suppose, but it's never a particularly good thing. Erechtheus 04:31, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Habit (psychology)
Thanks for removing the speedy delete. That means I can go to bed. I've been working hard to check on uses of the word "habit" in 700 WP articles to confirm my intuition that "habituation" is not what people are looking for. I found VERY few cases where habituation was clearly what was sought. I even added an internal link or two to habituation for 1 or 2 articles. There were some cases that were arguable, so I left it the way it was if there was a link to habituation, added no link in some cases, and added a habit (psychology) link where I thought it worked. of course I ignored all the uses that were about individual cases of drug, gambling, or smoking habits or where the word was used in a botanical or crystallograohic sense. I also skipped all animal habits, because of the difficulty of figuring out in what sense, say, a horse was conscious. I did learn a bit about the older uses of the term habit over 2000 years or so. Stay tuned. DCDuring 07:04, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

I see you wanted to start a list of sporting venues by attendance. Let me know if you need any help because I am interested in this sort of thing. Are you also going to add closed/demolished stadiums or venues that have since reduced capacity to your list (for example, Hampden Park in Scotland)? I think there is some value in those venues as well. Also, would you want to add venues that were never built, such as Circus Maximus or even the proposed Deutsches Stadion? Thanks! [edit] Lizzie Grubman
Thank you for refreshingly logical comments regarding the deletion of the Lizzie Grubman article at cntent review. I saw the comment on your user page that you were "spending most of my editing time on the AfD page, learning the ins and outs of Wikipedia policy." What I've learned is that AfD policy is whatever the whims are of the closing admin. I think it's clear that there are many administrators whose sense of what they think Wikipedia policy means trumps any logic or common sense, let alone any meaningful effort to build a useful encyclopedia. All that had to be done, at worst, with the Lizzie Grubman article was to delete one phrase and request a source. Deleting an article because of a single unsourced statement (and never specifying in the AfD what the "violation" was) is just throwing out the baby with the bathwater. It doesn't solve a problem, it justs serves to intefere with those who are making a good faith effort to build Wikipedia. Alansohn 15:52, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Message about mass deletion nominations posted at AN/I
Hi,
I see you've commented on top of the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Ukrainian Americans deletion discussion about the overall issue of these mass deletion nominations. Obviously that isn't a great place for us to discuss this. [edit] User:Charles Pierce
Hi there. I noticed you removed the speedy that had been added here, stating that because of the sockpuppeteer tag it shouldn't be speedied. I think the point trying to be made was that the sockpuppet tag was added by a user with very few edits, pretty much every one of which seems to come under the vandalism heading, so even if G1 didn't apply then G3 should. Still, I'll be letting the admins sort this one out. Confusing Manifestation 16:21, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Featured Topic Drive By Maxim Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:
Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion. |

If you want to revert the orhter prod-s go ahead. Sorry for the inconvenience ʍαμ$ʏ5043 17:42, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Supreme crime
I posted this article as db-copyvio, but you reverted saying the article was posted on Wikipedia first. I had seen http://www.visualstatistics.net/East-West/ , but the dates on these types of lists are of the most recent change, not the first uploading. If you go to archive.org [1] as I did, you will see that it was written at least before Apr 20, 2006. This case is complicated by the fact that the author on Wikipedia claims to be the owner of the website visualstatistics.net, according to the history of his user page. I find that some of his other contributions, such as War cycles, are also on this website. The safe thing to do would be to assume that the real Krus intended them to be copyrighted, as stated on his company's webpage. –Sarregouset (Talk) 22:09, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- I removed the speedy again, see Talk:Supreme_crime#Copyvio. --TeaDrinker 23:04, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Lundby Dollhouses
Before you go off on it again, I took a look over your talk page and find thise that are applicable to this discussion, "The existence of the article itself and the gigantic company logo are both pretty unacceptable. Smashville 17:12, 20 August 2007 (UTC)"
"I suggest you take a look at Wikipedia:Spam and Wikipedia:Notability. If you are notable, someone else will create a page for you. Smashville 04:13, 19 August 2007 (UTC)"
"However, being ranked 1 millionth in something is hardly notable. Smashville 20:53, 20 August 2007 (UTC)"
I truly do not wish to have any dispute or sire any ill feelings, I simply passed by this page, read it, asked the opinion of two admin's who also fel it was advertising. So if you feel that it is note worthy, then please make your case, as is protocol, rather than simply take it upon yourself to deleate. I have discussed it with a couple of administrators who also felt it was blatant advertising, as per Wiki policy and not even close to asserting any form of notability. Clearly we see "Original research", POV, Blatant website advertising, linking the page to their own website ready to take your orders! Simply because a manufacture has been around and has been selling this or that, does not make it "note worthy". SO to that end I've requested an AFD. Mystar 01:27, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- As I was not the original author, have no interest in the subject, have no knowledge of the dollhouse industry and merely removed an inappropriate CSD template twice...I find it highly inappropriate to place this warning on my page. I was within every right as a WP editor to remove thse templates. Also, the above comments are about separate articles and completely irrelevant to this discussion. A) There is no gigantic company logo on the page. B) This is not a case of WP:BIO and C) No one is ranked 1 millionth in anything in this discussion. Smashville 04:13, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] {{unreferenced}}
{{Unreferenced}} should be used only on articles that have no sources (references or external links). The {{Refimprove}} template is appropriate for articles with some sources but not enough. {{Unreferencedsect}} , {{Primarysources}}, or {{Citations}} may also work well for your purposes. Thanks--BirgitteSB 18:02, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- If you are referring to Etak, the page did not and still does not cite any sources. Smashville 18:42, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- No it doesn't have any citations. But it does list a source for it's acquisition by TeleAtlas and that it worked on digital road maps in 1993. That it least places at the level of something that exists in the general industry claimed by the article and is not a complete hoax. Above articles that have no sources whatsoever. But I guess it just a matter of perspective. I am used to dealing those worse articles that have not a single source at all. Keep in mind those other templates though. The category associated with {{unsourced}} has 83,256 articles so any use of the more specific tags helps to root out the hoaxes.--BirgitteSB 19:03, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Gotcha. I actually just tagged it that way since I was removing the CSD template. I figured the tag would trigger to future editors that the lack of references had already been addressed. If you feel that there's a better one, tag it with that one. Smashville 19:06, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- I had used {{Refimprove}} instead. I am generally referencing stuff tagged in June of 2006. But since is only 2 days into October I thought I would do a little education campaign while the category is small. People have been working on June 2006 articles for over three months so I think it becoming necessary to try leaving some messages about on the recent articles.--BirgitteSB 19:24, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion
Hi,
A few days ago I put up an article on a company I like at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Www.ultimate-anonymity.com
I admit I did not read the page creation guidelines and the page was deleted accordingly.
Today, after reading the page creation guidelines, I recreated the article within the guidelines providing proper cites and links and have noticed it has been flagged already for speedy deletion as being a "duplicate" when in fact is is not a duplicate at all of the original article.
Additionally, I note that a similar service is allowed to have an article ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymizer_%28company%29 ). I basically used the same template as this service yet my article is scheduled to be deleted. Why? Why is one allowed to remain and the other not?
Thank you
- It was a blatant advertisement for the website. Nothing in the article even asserted notability, much less established it. The fact that other articles exist is irrelevant. Smashville 15:18, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimania 2008/Conference of the Americas
Hello, As you may or may not know, Alexandria, Egypt was selected to host Wikimania 2008 [2]. So as to prevent the hard work of the many Wikimedians involved in the Atlanta bid from going to waste, we have decided to host a conference for the Americas. This is in no way an attempt to compete with Wikimania or make a statement against Wikimania.
As one of the people signed up to help with the Wikimania Atlanta bid, we hope you will join us at the Wikimedia Conference of the Americas. We will be having a meeting tonight in IRC tonight (Oct 15) at 9:30PM in #cota-atlanta on irc.freenode.org to discuss the conference. For more information about IRC see [3].
For more information about the Wikimedia Conference of the Americas see http://www.cota-atlanta.org and our wiki http://www.cota-atlanta.org/wiki.

Malibu Film Festival is in name only, as none of the actual film festival takes place in Malibu. It's like devoting a section to the Chevrolet Malibu or Malibu Barbie or anything with the moniker Malibu, with its name the only connection to Malibu. In fact, when I initially added a newprint link showing the fact that the festival has no connection with Malibu since 2004, the User:Malibu Film Festival or cohort deleted it. Hello. I removed your report of this IP address from AIV because the user of the IP is probably wondering the same thing as me - why are their edits inappropriate? It's no use issuing a final warning without some explanation of what they are doing wrong. Mentioning the Malibu film festival seems an appropriate thing to do in an article about Malibu. -- zzuuzz (talk) 23:09, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

- I believe it was speedy deleted as a copyvio (hence the perception of advertising), and the fact it was written by User:Malibu Film Festival probably didn't help. This still does not explain why the edits to the Malibu article are inappropriate, and still doesn't help this user. - All of this user's edits have been in relation to placing external links to the film festivals run by this company. That, to me, is spam. Smashville 23:26, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I see a probably notable film festival being mentioned (it's more like content with a reference than a single link), but you are welcome to explain this to the user, and perhaps suggest that the link stays out while the content is referenced elsewhere. As it stands this user has no idea what they are doing wrong, which is why they weren't blocked. -- zzuuzz (talk) 23:36, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Philip Deaver AfD
Hi Smashville - I don't want to get into the deletion discussion regarding Phil Deaver, but I just thought you should know that his article pre-dated anything to do with my ill-fated Wikipedia (Gary Forrester) article, and I had nothing to do with starting it, although I did add some stuff to his article when I was having a rush of blood to the head about my own (pre-deletion). He is the real thing. The O. Henry Award and the Flannery O'Connor aren't minor awards. He has a long and distinguished track record of publishing short stories and poems with very reputable publishers. I just wanted to set the record straight - nothing more. Hey, thanks for seeing that this was a fairly notable article. I was only aware of it because it was linked from the only tangentially related Mary Ramsey Wood article. (I've since removed the tenuous connection from both articles.) I've certainly lost patience with the article's author and am quite relieved we can now all edit in peace, but believe or not, when all the sturm and drang is taken away, I think we will find there may be some wheat among the chaff. [edit] Curlin Editing
You obviously didn't check the facts - try reading the following article. http://www.bloodhorse.com/articleindex/article.asp?id=41857
You also obviously haven’t checked the facts regarding the Breeders Cup race. Curlin passed Street Sense at, or about, the 1/4 pole not the far turn as you state. I have watched the race more than a dozen times - many of which in slow motion, what I have written regarding where the pass takes place is a historical fact - not opinion.
As to stating the race he ran was a "stylish performance" and "in the race of the year, for horse of the year" these statements were direct quotes from the announcer of the race, which make them very relevant to the story - and by the way make him, (an expert in horse racing) not me, the one stating "Horse of the Year".
- One of your edits referred to Street Sense as a "dog" (based on the fact that the same language is being used, the IP is obviously you). Trevor Denman's race call is not a reliable source, as it is still opinion. And - again - Horse of the Year is not determined until the end of January. --SmashvilleBONK! 17:25, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- Then you obviously did not read the judges order —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bill yates27 (talk • contribs) 20:38, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- I read the judge's order. I also read "Judge Rules Interest In Curlin Turned Over To Plaintiffs" which is the reference in the article. The problem is that you are violating Wikipedia's no original research policy and trying to make the article reflect your legal interpretation of a court order instead of what has been publicly reported and referenced. A lawyer arguing over a judge's decision doesn't trump a judge's decision. --SmashvilleBONK! 20:55, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spelling of Frank Drowota
Hi. I corrected the spelling of this former judge's name in the Montgomery Bell Academy article. But the Frank Drowota article from which you picked up the incorrect spelling is going to keep causing trouble until its title can be changed to spell the name "Drowota" rather than "Drawota."
